A veritable hotbed for business success; a fantastic window onto the global market; a pacesetter for the future of manufacturing − those are just a few of the ways in which participating exhibitors have described the outcome of EMO Hannover 2017. After six action-packed days, more than 2,200 international manufacturers of production technology are leaving Hannover on Saturday (today) with full order books, in a highly optimistic frame of mind.

As part of the Safety Day at the EMO Hannover 2017, the VDW-Research Institute, the research community of the VDW (German Machine Tool Builders’ Association), awarded the prize for the “Project of the Year” yesterday for the third time, thus paying due tribute to outstanding research projects conducted by production-engineering academics in order to close knowledge gaps in regard to issues concerning certain specifics of machine tools, plus production technology and engineering.

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier officially opened EMO Hannover 2017 this morning, stating that “an open society and prosperous economy rest on a foundation of communication and trust. Trade fairs like EMO embody this in a concrete and tangible way. Fortunately, this tradition continues to flourish, even in an age of digital catalogs, video conferences and just-in-time production.”
