“It makes you want to cry” aka WannaCry made it into the headlines in 2017 and thus pushed cybersecurity further and further into the public focus. In 2020, the German economy was estimated to suffer 223.5 billion euros in damages due to data theft, espionage and sabotage (Bitkom, 2021). Many cyber attacks and the associated damages to companies are not even recorded, which makes the dark figure high.
