The Services we provide for our Members

The VDW supports its members in all action fields of relevance for their daily business. Its service spectrum comprises three essential elements:

Representation of the sector as a whole: the VDW represents the machine tool industry’s shared commercial, technical and academic interests to the politicians, to other branches of industry and the public.

Indirect support for member companies: the VDW deals with issues of relevance to the machine tool industry and conducts initiatives and projects covering the entire sector. This reduces the overall workload of the individual VDW members, who thus benefit from cooperative arrangements, such as participating in joint, pre-competition research work.

Direct, individualised support for member companies: the VDW provides advice for its members in all questions falling within the association’s remit. For example: members receive exclusive statistics and forecasts, they are assisted in addressing the world’s largest market by their own involvement in the German Engineering Federation’s China liaison office, and they are provided with analyses of strategically important market trends. In addition, members benefit from symposia organised by the VDW abroad where they can establish contacts in the world’s most interesting markets, and are supported in coping successfully with the international “jungle of rules” applying for technical standards and health-and-safety regulations. The monthly sectoral report informs VDW members exclusively about ongoing trends, and about initiatives and activities of the association.
