Worldwide standardisation
The principal work involved in the standardisation of machine tools is meanwhile performed at the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) or the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) statt.Through participation in the official German delegation, which is headed by the DIN Standardisation Committee for Machine Tools, the VDW represents the views and interests of its members in the international standardisation bodies.
These include the ISO TC39 Machine Tools with its subcommittees and working groups on test and acceptance-testing conditions (SC2), on noise emissions (SC6), safety (particularly of lathes, machining centres, grinding machines, sawing machines, electrical-discharge machines and forming machines, SC10), and environmental conditions and eco-design of machine tools (WG12), plus the ISO TC 184 SC1 Physical Device Control with activities for standardising CNC-programming, step-NC and interface definition between machine tools and automation systems.
